Dear everyone,
What a joy to see the many little faces on Sunday! Please find a summary about the concept area and activities held for the children at the preschool ministry on Sunday 15 April 2012:
Concept Area:
Self
Theme:
God makes me so that I can learn, work and play.
Theme:
God makes me so that I can learn, work and play.
Bible Story:
Genesis 1 - God created man.
Bible Verse:
Psalm 139:14 - I am wonderfully made.
Activities:
There were 3 activity stations that were set up as follow:
1. Completing the picture of Man
A hand-drawn picture frame of a person was pasted on a wall, where the children were taught about different parts of the body that we can use to praise God for wonderfully making us. They are encouraged to paste the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hands and feet, and to talk about how they use for example, our mouths to sing, pray and praise God in our lives, our ears to listen to God's Word and music, and our feet to walk and go tell others about Jesus.
2. Making faces
Activity no. 1 was repeated and reinforced with children creating and making their own faces on their own pieces of art paper, decorating an 'empty' face with their own drawings of eyes, nose, mouth, ears and adding bow-ties or ribbons. While the children were involved in the activity, they were encouraged to talk about how they can help out at home with our hands and reminding that God has wonderfully made us because He loves us very much.
3. Telling the Bible story of how God created Man (Genesis 1)
We started with a time of prayer led by a child Joshua Tan to thank God that we could come and gather today to hear God's Word and meet our friends.
Reciting from Psalms 139:14 'I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made' was shared with the children about God makes us so that we can praise Him, be useful, work, and play. How do we know this? The Bible tells us so from Genesis 1. The story of God's creation of the universe and man was retold:
Day 1: Light and Dark
Day 2: Clouds and Oceans
Day 3: Land, Plants and Trees
Day 4: Sun, Moon and Stars
Day 5: Fish and Birds
Day 6: Man and Animals
Day 7: God rested and made the day holy.
People like you and me are the creation that God loves so much that He sent Jesus Christ to be our Saviour and Friend. Children were quizzed and encouraged to share about how can we show our love to God? What can we do with what He has given us so that we can praise Him?
We closed the time of the Bible Story with another prayer and thanksgiving for the snacks.
The day's session concluded with a snack time, singing 'If you are happy' and using our hands, knees and nodding our heads. There was also some time for re-telling of the main theme with the children. They were encouraged to reflect on what and how we thank God for wonderfully making us and how we can be useful and helpful for Him and the people around us.
We hope to see your children again next time, both 'old' and 'new' faces to come, share and enjoy in the wonderful teachings God has for us.
Blessings,
Wi Min, VK & Steven
